Professional Background

Diane Welch is an attorney in the Employment & Labor Law group with McDonald Carano.  Her practice focuses on employment litigation, general business litigation, and higher education law.

Ms. Welch has experience handling a wide array of employment matters, including defending Title VII discrimination claims, Constitutional law claims, providing advice and defense on ADA and FMLA issues, and contract claims. She has extensive experience before both state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She is adept at handling investigations and responses to EEOC and NERC charges, and ensuring that employee policies comply with federal and state law.

Ms. Welch also has a significant background in higher education law. Prior to joining McDonald Carano, she was Assistant General Counsel for the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). In that capacity, she served as lead attorney for litigation and provided advice and guidance on employee management, policy and contract matters. Ms. Welch also has experience negotiating CSN’s first collective bargaining agreement with academic faculty.
