Remembering and Honoring
James W. Bradshaw
It is with deep sadness that McDonald Carano announces the passing of James W. Bradshaw on May 29.
Jim was a fifth generation Nevadan born and raised in Reno. He earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1981. Jim joined McDonald Carano in 1982 after a judicial clerkship in the Second Judicial District Court. Jim moved to Las Vegas in 1986 to open McDonald Carano’s Las Vegas office.
Jim was the Managing Partner of the Las Vegas office when he and the Nevada Air National Guard were called upon to provide reconnaissance for the United States’ military operations in Operation Desert Storm, flying behind enemy lines to photograph troop and artillery movement. Jim earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in the Gulf War. After 24 years in the USAF, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1995.
Jim returned from the Gulf War and continued his role in our Las Vegas office before moving back to our Reno office in 1993. As a former Chair of our Litigation Practice Group, Jim was a treasured member of our law firm who mentored many of our current litigation partners and was a friend to all. His many years of service to the State Bar of Nevada includes serving as a member of the Board of Governors, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Nevada Bar Foundation, and a Board member and Chair of the Northern Nevada Disciplinary Panel.
Jim will be deeply missed by all.
