Proudly Supporting the Public Interest Law Association at Boyd School of Law
McDonald Carano proudly supports the student-led Public Interest Law Association at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada-Las Vegas through our donation to the 27th Annual Silver State Auction on February 5. The event recognizes community leaders and raises funds to provide grants to law students working in the public interest sector during the summer. A student may apply for a PILA grant if they obtain a non-paying public interest legal position under the supervision of an attorney at a nonprofit or government agency. An important component of the mission of Boyd School of Law is to serve communities through public interest work.
McDonald Carano’s support of PILA also includes sponsoring PILA’s annual luncheon panel discussion during National Pro Bono Week on the topic of Pro Bono Work in Private Practice. Karyna Armstrong participated on the panel in 2025 and 2024, and John Fortin participated on the panel in 2023. Our involvement in PILA is also part of the community outreach activities of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
