McDonald Carano’s Third Consecutive DEI Medallion from the Nevada State Bar
The State Bar of Nevada launched a new DEI recognition program in 2023 after extensive meetings with law firms across the state. McDonald Carano is proud to be the first firm to earn the new “Partner in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” medallion in 2023 in recognition of our DEI initiatives. McDonald Carano also received its second and third consecutive medallions in 2024 and 2025. The medallion is awarded to firms that complete at least five DEI initiatives in the categories of recruitment, retention, pipeline and community programs, and coaching and training. McDonald Carano completed more than 10 initiatives and additional DEI programs are underway.

We would like to thank our DEI Committee members and leader, Karyna Armstrong, for their time, energy, and dedication. Our DEI achievements also would not be possible without the commitment from Firm Managing Partner George Ogilvie who helped champion the creation of our DEI Committee and draft our first DEI Policy. George continues to play an ongoing role in developing, facilitating, and implementing our firm-wide DEI initiatives.
In November 2024, McDonald Carano received prominent recognition of our DEI leadership when we received the Law Firm of the Year Award from the Las Vegas Chapter of the National Bar Association in recognition of our contributions to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Nevada legal community. LVNBA is an association of predominantly Black lawyers, judges, law professors, and other legal professionals. George Ogilvie accepted the award on behalf of McDonald Carano.
“We are very proud to be honored with this award. While we formed our DEI Committee in 2020, the genesis of the Committee’s success is in the institutional values that have been the foundation of our Firm for 75 years. Those values have at their core doing the right thing. We are proud to receive this award for doing the right thing for the members of our Firm, the legal profession, our clients, and our communities.” Firm Managing Partner George Ogilvie
The State Bar of Nevada is committed to addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion through dialogue, education, and sharing resources. Information about the DEI Medallion Program is available here.
