Celebrating 75 Years of Serving Nevada’s Legal, Business, Government, and Civic Communities

McDonald Carano Earns First DEI Medallion from the Nevada State Bar

The State Bar of Nevada launched a new DEI recognition program in 2023 after extensive meetings with law firms across the state. McDonald Carano is proud to be the first firm to earn the new “Partner in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” medallion in 2023 in recognition of our DEI initiatives. McDonald Carano also received its second consecutive medallion in 2024. The medallion is awarded to firms that complete at least five DEI initiatives in the categories of recruitment, retention, pipeline and community programs, and coaching and training. McDonald Carano completed more than 10 initiatives and additional DEI programs are underway.

“Congratulations to McDonald Carano on being the first firm in Nevada to earn the State Bar of Nevada’s DEI Medallion! With this medallion, the State Bar recognizes McDonald Carano’s commitment to incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in its practice. Thank you for being a partner in diversity, equity, and inclusion.” Judi De Marco, State Bar of Nevada, Diversity & Programs Manager

We would like to thank our DEI Committee and its leaders, Mackenzie Warren Kay, Karyna Armstrong, and Kelci Binau, for their time, energy, and dedication to integrate DEI throughout our firm. Our DEI achievements also would not be possible without the commitment from Firm Managing Partner George Ogilvie who not only championed the creation of our DEI Committee and helped draft our DEI Policy, but also continues to play an ongoing direct role in developing, facilitating, and implementing our firm-wide DEI initiatives.

The State Bar is committed to addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion through dialogue, education, and sharing resources. Information about the DEI Medallion Program is available here.
