Celebrating Over 75 Years of Serving Nevada’s Legal, Business, Government, and Civic Communities

Lindsay Knox Appointed to Reno City Charter Committee

McDonald Carano congratulates Lindsay Knox on being appointed to the Reno City Charter Committee. Lindsay is a Senior Vice President in our Government Affairs & Advocacy group with over 15 years of experience helping to communicate and advance her clients’ legislative and policy priorities at the local and state levels. Lindsay was appointed to the committee by Council Member Brandi Anderson who represents Ward 6.

The Reno City Charter established the Charter Committee as a citizen advisory committee. Its duties include reviewing the Reno City Charter to identify changes that would provide for a more modern, effective and efficient City government; meeting jointly with and providing recommendations to the City Council regarding amendments to the Charter; and holding meetings and public hearings. Committee members are appointed by each Council Member and the Mayor, as well as the Nevada Legislative delegation representing residents of the City of Reno. Members appointed by Council Members and the Mayor serve during the term of the person who made the appointment.

The Charter requires the committee to meet at least once every two years before the beginning of a regular legislative session, and to meet jointly with the Council after the committee meets and prior to the legislative session. The committee traditionally meets the year before the session to ensure it completes its biennial review of the Charter and provides its recommendations to the City Council in time for the deadline associated with bill draft request (BDR) submissions. More information about the committee is available at https://reno.primegov.com/public/committees.
