Josh Hicks Receives Lawyer of the Year Award in Government Relations
McDonald Carano congratulates Josh Hicks on receiving the Lawyer of the Year Award in Government Relations for the Reno region in The Best Lawyers in America 2025. Lawyer of the Year honors are awarded to only one lawyer per practice area in a specific metropolitan region who achieves the “highest overall feedback from their peers, making it an exceptional distinction.” Josh is recognized in Best Lawyers in Government Relations (2018-2025), Real Estate Law (2024-2025), Tax Litigation & Controversy (2024-2025), and Tax Law (2025).

Josh is Chair of McDonald Carano’s Government Affairs and Advocacy Group. Before joining McDonald Carano, Josh served as General Counsel and Chief of Staff to Governor Jim Gibbons. Prior to his work in the Governor’s Office, Josh was a Senior Deputy Attorney General for Attorney Generals Frankie Sue Del Papa, Brian Sandoval and George Chanos, representing the Nevada Department of Taxation, the Nevada Tax Commission, and the Nevada Secretary of State.
