John Fortin Recognized in Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation
McDonald Carano congratulates John Fortin on his recognition in Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation, a guide that features “the next generation of legal leaders in America … making their mark … and emerging in leadership positions in their practice and firm.” John is among a select group of only 50 attorneys recognized in Appellate Practice and the only appellate attorney selected in Nevada. To create the list, LDX500 considered “hundreds of nominations alongside thousands of lawyers we identify who’ve proven themselves early in private practice, accruing credentials, deals and cases early and often.”
In addition to Lawdragon 500 X – The Next Generation, John received the 2025 Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the State Bar of Nevada and the 2024 Vince Consul Memorial Pro Bono Award from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. He is recognized as “Ones to Watch” by The Best Lawyers in America (2025) and received a Veterans Leadership Award from Profiles in Diversity Journal (2024). In 2024, he was also listed among “Top Lawyers” in Appellate, Business Litigation, and Civil Rights Litigation by Vegas Inc./Las Vegas Weekly, as well as “Top Rank Attorneys” by Nevada Business Magazine.
John’s appellate practice colleagues on the LDX500 list include attorneys from Boies Schiller in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., Gibson Dunn in Washington, D.C., Hanson Bridgett in San Francisco, Hecker Fink in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., Jackson Walker in Houston and San Antonio, Kirkland & Ellis in New York City and Salt Lake City, Latham & Watkins in New York City, Quinn Emanuel in New York City, Susman Godfrey in New York City, Weil Gotshal & Manges in New York City and Washington, D.C, and Winston & Strawn in Chicago.
For more than 20 years, Lawdragon has been researching and reporting on the legal profession and producing guides recognizing leading lawyers in a wide range of industries and practice areas.
