John Fortin Receives 300 Pro Bono Hours Club Recognition
McDonald Carano congratulates John Fortin on receiving 300 Pro Bono Hours Club recognition from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada for the more than 300 hours of pro bono services he provides to LACSN’s Pro Bono Program. John received 300 Pro Bono Hours Club recognition in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
John is also recognized as LACSN’s Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month for November 2022. As John stated in the interview for the award, “The American Bar Association and the Nevada Bar Association recommend providing 50 hours of pro bono services every year. I view that number as a minimum and provide far more every year because, in my view, it is a duty for those fortunate enough to be admitted to the Bar to provide as much pro bono services to those in need that they can.”

John describes his work on that case in an article published in the December 2023 issue of the Clark County Bar Association’s Communiqué magazine. John’s article, “Gaining Valuable Experience Through Pro Bono: An Example from Civil Forfeiture,” includes his insights on how pro bono representation creates opportunities for young lawyers to gain invaluable experience early in their careers.
