Celebrating Over 75 Years of Serving Nevada’s Legal, Business, Government, and Civic Communities

Bob Armstrong Receives Influential Leader Recognition

McDonald Carano congratulates Bob Armstrong on his third recognition in the “Influential Leader” category in Northern Nevada Business Weekly’s Best In Business Awards 2025. The Best In Business Awards determine “which business leaders and companies have had the biggest impact in the Northern Nevada business community.”

The Best In Business Awards contest is based on a three-week online nomination period and a three-week online finalist voting period open to the public. The awards committee selected only three Influential Leader winners representing the recipients of the three highest numbers of votes. We congratulate Bob for also receiving this recognition in 2022 and 2024.

Here on page B17, and provided below, is the publication’s description of Bob’s Influential Leadership recognition.

Named the Most Influential Leader, Armstrong is marking his 45th year at McDonald Carano.

Armstrong is a third-generation Nevadan with family roots going back to Virginia City’s Comstock Lode. His early exposure to Nevada’s business community came from long drives across the state with his father, one of Nevada’s earliest certified public accountants. Those formative years laid the foundation for a legal career defined by technical expertise and statewide impact.

After earning degrees from Santa Clara University, Georgetown University Law Center, and New York University School of Law, Armstrong joined the firm and steadily built what is today one of Nevada’s most highly regarded Trust & Estates practices. Since 2017, Bob and McDonald Carano’s Trust & Estates Practice have received the highest Band 1 ranking in the Chambers High Net Worth Guide, the prestigious global guide that evaluates the reputation, service and expertise of lawyers and law firms.

Armstrong is credited with helping to develop the legislative framework that has positioned Nevada as a premier destination for trust situs and family trust companies. His portfolio includes major real estate and hotel-casino transactions, as well as representation of a prominent sports agency in high-profile football coaching and management contracts.

But his influence extends beyond the practice of law. Armstrong has held leadership positions as Emeritus Trustee of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation and Chair of its Investment Committee; Co-Founder and Trustee Emeritus of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada; former Trustee and Past President of Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada; Director and Past President of the Athletic Association of the University of Nevada; and former Director and Past President of the Reno Philharmonic Association.

In the 2025 Best In Business Awards contest, there were more than 250 finalists in 31 categories. The complete list of winners in all 31 categories is available here.
