Full Grant Donation to Public Interest Law Association at UNLV Boyd School of Law
McDonald Carano proudly supports the student-led Public Interest Law Association at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada-Las Vegas through our donation of a Full Grant at the Annual Silver State Auction fundraising event. Part of the mission of the Boyd School of Law is to serve communities through public interest work. McDonald Carano appreciates this opportunity to help PILA make it possible for students to explore careers in public interest by providing grants to students to fund their summer public interest work. A student may apply for a PILA grant if they obtain a non-paying public interest position, which is a legal position under the supervision of an attorney at a non-profit or government agency that represents indigent or under-served populations. Our involvement in PILA is also part of the community outreach activities of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.
George Ogilvie, Managing Partner of McDonald Carano and the Firm’s Las Vegas office, leads our support of PILA and explains that “McDonald Carano joins Boyd School of Law in placing a high value on public interest work and ensuring access to justice which is essential to a strong, inclusive, and vibrant community.” PILA is only able to fulfill its mission with the support from generous donors who help invest in students and in our community. The Public Interest Law Association is a non-profit, student organization that works closely with students, faculty, and members of the community to raise awareness about public interest work and opportunities available to law students.
PILA’s 24th annual auction will be held on February 23 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Attendance, auction, and donation information is available here.
