Employment Law Priorities for
In-House Counsel
On February 20, 2025, Dan Aquino, Co-Chair of our Employment & Labor Law Practice, provided a CLE to Nevada Chapter members of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Dan’s CLE titled “Employment Law Priorities for In-House Counsel” provided in-house practitioners with legal insights and strategies, as well as practical ideas to address trending employment law issues. The CLE addressed a wide array of new and developing employment law priorities for in-house counsel at the state and national level, including perspectives on how the Trump administration may affect employment laws through numerous recently issued Executive Orders. The CLE covered:
- Muldrow v. City of St. Louis’s Weakened Standard for Adverse Employment Actions Supporting Discrimination Claims
- End of the DOL’s Overtime Expansion Rule
- 7th Circuit’s Travel Time Ruling in Walters v. Professional Labor Group
- Status of Noncompete Law Ban
- Changes to the EEOC’s Leadership and Enforcement Focus
- Current state of the law for gender identity workplace discrimination re: EEOC policy changes announced by Acting EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas on Jan. 28, 2025
- Gender Identity Discrimination, Bostock, and Executive Order 14168 titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” issued Jan. 20, 2025
- Executive Order 14173 titled “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity” issued Jan. 21, 2025
- Executive Order titled “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing” issued Jan. 20, 2025
- Executive Order titled “Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies” issued Feb. 18, 2025
