Celebrating 75 Years of Serving Nevada’s Legal, Business, Government, and Civic Communities

6th “Lawyer of the Year” Award in Corporate Law

In the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, McDonald Carano celebrated our sixth “Lawyer of the Year” award in Corporate Law. Brian Schusterman (Reno) received the award in 2024, Andy Gabriel (Las Vegas) received the award in 2022, Brian Pick (Reno) received the award in 2019, Mark Knobel (Reno) received the award in 2015 and 2010, and Bob Armstrong (Reno) received the award in 2013. “Lawyer of the Year” honors are awarded to only one lawyer in a specific area of law in a specific region who achieves “extremely high overall feedback from their peers, making it an exceptional distinction.” Only 0.4% of those in private practice received the “Lawyer of the Year” distinction. Our Corporate Law Practice Group is also rated in the highest Tier 1 category in The Best Law Firms in America as well as the highest Band 1 category in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Best Law Firms defines the Corporate Law Practice as “lawyers who advise corporations and their officers, directors, and controlling shareholders with respect to the formation, governance, and day-to-day legal problems of such entities. They are required to be true generalists, since their advice may involve such diverse matters as: the proper conduct of the board, its directors, and its committees; executive compensation; shareholder agreements relating to board representation and voting rights; compliance with federal and state regulations affecting the client’s particular industry; commercial contracts with the corporation’s customers and suppliers; the corporation’s sales of securities; relations with the corporation’s accountants, commercial bank lenders, and investment bankers; the structure of the corporation’s joint ventures; communications with the corporation’s stockholders, creditors, and customers; and the preparation of any required periodic disclosure filings with the SEC and proxy statements sent to stockholders.”
