2023 Honoree: Salute to Women of Achievement

McDonald Carano congratulates Kelci Binau on being an Honoree at the Salute to Women of Achievement event hosted by the Nevada Women’s Fund on May 25, 2023. The event recognizes women who have excelled in their fields and made meaningful impacts in their workplace and community. Kelci is a gaming law attorney at McDonald Carano and Vice-Chair of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. For the Global Gaming Women organization, Kelci is a moderator of a professional mentorship and career development Lean-In Circle and serves as the Communications and Content Liaison for the Marketing Committee. McDonald Carano is proud to help sponsor the event and support the Nevada Women’s Fund’s mission of Empowering Women to Achievement.

The chair of the 2023 Women of Achievement event is Mariluz Cristina Garcia, Ph.D., the daughter of immigrants, first person in her family to earn a doctorate degree, and first Latina elected to the Board of Washoe County Commissioners. The keynote speaker is Sandra Douglass Morgan, President of the Las Vegas Raiders, the first Black woman to hold that role in the National Football League, the first person of color to have served as chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and the first African American City Attorney in the State of Nevada. This year’s 40th Anniversary event also celebrates founding members Maya Miller, Barbara Thornton, and Lynn Atcheson with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award.

Since 1983, Nevada Women’s Fund has made a significant impact on women’s lives, raising and awarding over $9 million in education scholarships to women from Northern Nevada, and grant funding to organizations supporting women and children.

About Salute to Women of Achievement

Salute to Women of Achievement recognizes outstanding women in an organization, a field of work, or community. The annual event celebrates the determination, passion, and dedication of women in our community and the businesses that support them. Local corporations and organizations recognize individual women for their community service, career, and personal achievements. Considered Reno’s largest business luncheon, nearly 1,400 people attend annually to honor the deserving woman in our community while supporting the Nevada Women’s Fund’s mission of Empowering Women to Achievement.
