Chair: Kaaran Thomas
McDonald Carano Wilson LLP Restructuring and Reorganization lawyers are engaged in matters on behalf of debtors, lender groups, ad hoc creditor committees, official creditor committees, secured and unsecured creditors, investors, lessors and trustees. The head of our group, Kaaran Thomas, is one of two practicing lawyers in Nevada admitted as a fellow to the American College of Bankruptcy Attorneys, the national honorary fellowship for bankruptcy practitioners. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Thomas was a partner at the international law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP. Ms. Thomas has specialized in bankruptcy matters since 1977 and has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the United States.
The firm has experienced practitioners adept at all phases of the restructuring and reorganization process, whether pre-bankruptcy filing or post-bankruptcy filing. In addition to our bankruptcy case experience, we have developed particular expertise in the complementary areas of business transactions, gaming, tax and commercial litigation, especially as they are practiced in Nevada's state, federal and bankruptcy courts.
Our experience includes:
- Out-of-court workouts, restructures and forbearance
- Receiverships, out-of-court wind downs and liquidations
- Prepackaged bankruptcy plans and pre-negotiated plans
- Complex Chapter 11 cases and Chapter 7 cases
